Q. How can I get a free Walker Brothers estimate?
We are pleased to provide a competitive pricing system and will aim to provide a free estimate within approximately one week, with no obligation. For more details e-mail us at office@walkerbros-timberframes.co.uk
Q. From when I place my order, how long is it before you are on site?
As projects vary in scale we do not have a specific timeframe we can automatically give to be on site. Our best practice is to give each individual project an estimated time of manufacture, erection and completion of the Timber Frame structure at the time you place your order.
Q. How much does Timber Frame cost?
As construction costs vary by region and are subject to unpredictable changes in market, it is difficult to give an absolute figure on how much a standard timber frame home would cost, the design of the home would also heavily influence the price. We can however provide a free estimate of your desired Timber Frame build.
Q. Will a Timber Frame House look different from a Masonry House?
The external final appearance of a Timber Framed home is no different to its Masonry counterpart. The difference between Timber Frame and conventional block and mortar constructions is that the internal leaf of block work is replaced by a Timber Frame structure.
Q. How long will a Timber Frame House last?
A new Timber Frame house will last as well as any other new home thanks to the use of superior timber, modern preservatives and advanced building practices. Timber Frame buildings are also not a new phenomenon, Timber Frame has been used for hundreds of years in Britain and a number of these buildings are still around today.
Q. Is a Timber Frame House at more risk of fires?
Unlike other forms of construction, Timber Frame does not bend or flake when subject to high temperatures this allows for a slow and controlled loss of structural integrity which can make less likely to collapse and therefore safer than homes built using other methods.
Q. Will I have to pay more insurance with a Timber Frame House?
Not necessarily, most Insurance companies generally do not draw any distinction between modern Timber Frame Houses and Masonry Houses.
Q. How strong is a Timber Frame Structure?
Timber Frame is a strong building method. As Timber Frame construction is based on a structural system and is capable of supporting a high amount of weight it has been used for a number of multi-storey student residences, flats and hospitals.
